Rodney L. Scott (1955 – 2016)

rodney scottRodney L. Scott, age 60 of Rock Falls, IL, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 14, 2016, at home.

Rod was born on October 26, 1955, in Sterling, IL, the son of Raymond F. and Dorothy K. (Harty) Scott. He graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1974. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Western Illinois University and later received his Master’s in Education from St. Xavier University. Rod married Susan Beattie on June 30, 1979, in Rock Falls. He taught Driver’s Education at Morrison High School, was a detasseling contractor for Monsanto, and was a high school basketball official. Rod was an avid Fighting Illini fan and enjoyed going to Indianapolis Colts games. He loved spending time with his family and attending his children’s sporting events.

Survivors include his wife, Sue, of Rock Falls; son, Riley L. Scott of Chicago, IL; daughter, Haley E. Scott of Champaign, IL; father-in-law, Richard G. Beattie of Rock Falls; brothers, Kenneth E. (Donna) Scott of Oregon, Gary L. (Vicky) Scott of Rock Falls, and Steve D. (Sandy) Scott of Rock Falls; sister, Marian K. Rosengren of Rock Falls; brother-in-law, Ron Snitchler of Rock Falls, sister-in-law, Sharon (Ken) Miller of Rock Falls; brother-in-law, Tim Beattie of Belvidere, IL; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna R. Olson; brother, Dennis E. Scott; mother-in-law, Alberta M. Beattie; sister-in-law, Patricia J. Snitchler.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue, in Rock Falls, IL.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Rock Falls United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Richard Fassig officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rock Falls United Methodist Church.
