The Rock River Chapter of the DAR celebrated its 100th anniversary on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at the Lincoln Learning Center in Sterling, IL. The chapter was formed on December 8, 1917, in Sterling. The Morrison, IL, chapter organized on January 12, 1903. The two chapters later merged into one chapter with Rock River being retained as the chapter’s name.
The Daughters of the American Revolution is a non-profit, volunteer women’s service organization whose mission is to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. All members are descendants of Revolutionary War soldiers or others that contributed in some way during the Revolutionary War.
