Roberta Jean Lane, 85, of Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation, in Morrison.
Roberta was born October 21, 1939, in Fulton, to Jacob and Edna (Morgan) Houzenga. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County Grade Schools and was a graduate of Fulton High School. On October 2, 1959, she married Thurman G. Lane at Spring Valley Reformed Church in Fulton. They shared their lives for over 62 years until his passing on June 10, 2022. Roberta was employed at Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton for 35 years before retiring. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Fulton and had been attending First Baptist Church in Morrison. Roberta enjoyed playing the piano and organ, filling her home with music. She was a devoted dog lover, who also liked working in her garden and spending time outdoors. Roberta’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Jolene (Michael) DeBerg of Clinton, IA; sons, Michael Lane of LeClaire, IA, and T. Dale (Robin) Lane of Russell, KS; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Connie (Raymond) Wiebenga of Fulton; brothers, Harlan Houzenga of Morrison and Gary (Bette) Houzenga of Springfield, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thurman; brother in infancy, Ronald Houzenga.
Her Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, November 11, 2024, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Rev. Roy Brown, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Morrison, officiating.
A Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m., until the time of the funeral.
Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL.
A memorial has been established to Resthave Care & Rehabilitation/Assisted Living.
