Robert E. Zuidema, Sr., 81, of Fulton, IL, died Friday April 27, 2018, at Resthave Home in Morrison, IL.
Robert was born March 9, 1937, in Fulton, to Frank R. and Helen (Balk) Zuidema. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools. He married Ardith R. Norman on December 8, 1956, in Fulton. Robert was a cement finisher and drove cement trucks for Quality Ready Mix, in both Fulton and Morrison, IL. He was a member of First Reformed Church in Fulton.
Survivors include his wife, Ardith; two daughters, Rebecca (Shane Stoecker) Chadwick and Leota (Scott) Schipper, both of Fulton; two sons, Bob (Julie) Zuidema of Morrison, IL, and Jake (Debbie) Zuidema of Savannah, MO;14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Doris (Donald) Swanson of Shannon, IL; one brother, Dan Zuidema of Fulton; one step-sister, Sheryl (Larry) Huizenga of Fulton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son in infancy; three sisters, Rebecca Zuidema, Patricia Witt-Russ, and Corliss J. “Cork” Venema; one brother, Frank Zuidema, Jr.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Edie Lenz, Pastor of First Reformed Church in Fulton, IL.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL.
Memorials to the American Heart Association and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation have been established.
