Robert E. Wiersema, 76 died Tuesday March 20, 2018, at Morrison Community Hospital, Morrison, IL.
He was born on May 19, 1941, in Fulton, IL, the son of Jacob and Jeanette (Wierema) Wiersema. Bob was a gentle soul who loved spending time with his family and friends and making them laugh with his special sense of humor. He enjoyed a long career as a Head Cook and Kitchen Manager for various local restaurants and remained interested in the culinary arts after his retirement. He loved the beauty of nature and rewards of nurturing his garden and plants. Bob appreciated the entertainment industry and was a whole-hearted movie and theater fan, as well as an avid reader, often found surrounded by stacks of books. He was a member of Second Reformed Church in Fulton.
Survivors include five daughters, Angel (John) Barker of Sterling, IL, Nichole (Pete) Karanec of Michigan, Katrina (Matt) Tiesman of Cedar Rapids, IA, Deede (Rob) Butler of Wylie, TX, Kelly (Richard) Daniels of Nevada, TX; son, Robert (Sherry) Wiersema of Royce City, TX; sisters, Louise Snelling, Reva Mussmann, and Sabrina VanderFord; 11 grandchildren, Dawn Miller, Angel (Chance) Curry, Kia McCrudden, Foster Butler, Madisyn Butler, Olivia, Anelise, and Maya Karanec, Winter, Dashiell, and Oliver Tiesman; two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Ogg and Jaiden Curry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jean and Peggy; brothers, Bill, Calvin, Larry, Gerald, and Donny.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., at McDonald Funeral Home in Fulton, IL.
The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home, with Reverend Scott Stephan of Second Reformed Church in Fulton, IL, officiating.
Burial will conclude at Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL.
