Robert D. “Bob” Barnett, 81, of Sterling, IL, formerly of Lyndon, IL, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Sterling Pavilion Nursing Home in Sterling.

Robert was born on February 24, 1936, in Buda, IL, the son of Robert E. and Rowena (Jackson)  Barnett. He married Judy Paulsen on June 19, 1972.  Bob was a millwright at Northwestern Steel and Wire Company in Sterling for 30 years, until his retirement in 1991.  He had previously been a mail carrier with the U. S. Postal Service.  Bob was an avid Chicago Bulls fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR.  His favorite hobby was playing Rollie Bowlie with his friends.  He loved camping, woodworking, and mostly spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his best canine companion, Dolly.

Surviving are his wife, Judy, of Sterling; children, Shelly (Dick) Williams of Sterling, Stan Stocks (Chrissy) of Palm Coast, FL, Heidi (Bobby ) Fleener of Morrison, IL, Tom (Betty) Barnett of Lyndon, Scott (Sherry) Barnett of Ava, IL, Mark (Dorathy) Barnett of Cutler, IL, and Kim Barnett (Keith) of Mt. Morris, IL; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Dean Barnett of Buda, Arvil (Barb) Barnett of Buda, and Richie (Cheryl) Barnett of Princeton, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Wayland and Vernon; sister-in-law, Phyllis; grandson Aaron.

Visitation: Saturday, March 11, 2017, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., at McDonald Funeral Home, 505 1st Avenue, Sterling, IL

Memorial Service: Saturday, March 11, 2017, at 2:30 p.m., at McDonald Funeral Home, 505 1st Avenue, Sterling, IL
