Richard K. Barsema, 75, of Fulton, IL, died Monday, February 20, 2023, at MercyOne Clinton in Clinton, IA, with his daughters by his side.
Rich was born July 22, 1947, in Morrison, IL, to Cornelius and Lena R. (Brackemyer) Barsema. He was educated in the Fulton grade schools, was a graduate of Fulton High School, and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He married Carleen Wiersema on January 2, 1968, in Fulton; they later divorced. Rich was employed at Drives and the Ford Garage, both in Fulton. He then was employed by Vend-O-Mac and Wiersema Charter in Morrison. He was an avid NASCAR and Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed woodworking and working on cars. He loved the time he spent with family and friends, especially his best friend, Dave Ammon, and his grand-dog, Sophie.
Survivors include his daughters, Rana Sue (Steve Jones) Barsema of Morrison and Christine Lynn (Fred) Reedy of Fulton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 27, 2023, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Ken Renkes.
There will be a Memorial Visitation prior to the service, starting at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
