Richard “Dick” Cassens, 81, of Davenport, IA, died Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society in Davenport.
Dick was born July 26, 1940, in Morrison, IL, to Alfred L. and Dorothy Mae (Peterkin) Cassens. He attended Morrison grade schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. Dick worked at the RB & W Manufacturing/Reliant Fastener in Rock Falls, IL, for 37 years. Later he worked at One Stop Mart and received three Employee of the Month awards. Lastly, he worked for Wal-Mart for 21 accident-free years. When younger, Dick won many awards for showing cattle in 4-H. He was a loyal friend and amazing cook, and he loved to watch basketball.
Survivors include his daughters, Missy Denning and Marnie (Shaun) McCrary, both of Morrison; four grandchildren, Courtney (Brad) McCrary-Kahn of Indianapolis, IN, Brandy (Justin) Haring of Fulton, IL, Scotty Denning and Jessy Denning, both of Morrison; four great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Memphis, Caden and Reese; brother, Doug (Pat) Cassens of Morrison; good friends, Bubba and Earl.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Immediately following the Visitation, a eulogy will be given to fondly remember Dick’s life.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
A memorial has been established by the family.
