Editor’s note: Whiteside County Circuit Clerk Sue Costello submitted this report.
If it’s not one thing, it’s another. Isn’t that how the saying goes?
The new air conditioning system scheduled to be completed is missing a crucial part. Because of the Coronovirus pandemic, this part has been delayed. Unfortunately, this means the Administrative part of the Courthouse has zero air conditioning.
High temperatures are forecasted for this week and anticipated to occur as the summer progresses. Until further notice, to protect the health and safety of the Circuit Clerk employees, the Circuit Clerk office only in Morrison, IL, will be open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Circuit Clerk office in Sterling, IL, will be open regular hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
When the Morrison part of the Circuit Clerk’s office is closed, after 2:00 p.m., the Sterling part of the Circuit Clerk’s office will still be open to answer questions, take cash payments, and facilitate Emergency Orders of Protection.
Costello said, “I apologize for this inconvenience. When the air conditioning is up and running, the Morrison Circuit Clerk Office will be open the regular hours. For now, bear with us, and schedule your Morrison Circuit Clerk business from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Your cooperation and patience during this unique situation is appreciated.”
Court still is occurring. The Courthouse is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Public still can enter the Courthouse with precautions set by the Sheriff.
Please be advised that this notice only applies to the Morrison Circuit Clerk office, not the entire Administration building.
