On Tuesday, February 2, 2021, Superintendent of Schools Scott Vance stated the following information to Parents and Guardians. “The District is happy to announce the return of interscholastic athletics at Morrison High School and Morrison Junior High. Although this sudden change is more than welcome, it has created somewhat of a logistical nightmare.
He continued, “The District is continuing to try and put all the pieces together, to maximize opportunities for our student athletes. [We] greatly appreciate the patience and understanding of our student athletes, parents, and coaches.
“One of the recurring questions we receive concerns athletic fees. The District understands that this is not a normal year…. Several sports/activities will have their seasons reduced. Therefore, the District will be altering its normal fee schedule.
Full Pay Activities (based on number of sports): Baseball, Softball, Boys Track, Girls Track. These sports are scheduled to have a full season with a postseason series.
Reduced Activities: $75 HS and $50 JH per sport/activity.
Fees will be due before the completion of the current season. Unpaid fees may result in student athletes being prohibited from further participation, until fees are paid. Full payment of fees includes registration fees.
“Several questions regarding fan attendance also have come up. Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has instituted some strict guidelines pertaining to fan attendance. Unfortunately, at this time our facilities are not large enough to meet these guidelines….Therefore we will not be allowing fans to attend home games. Should the IDPH relax their guidelines, the District will revisit fan attendance policies. In the meantime, the District will be streaming all home High School and Junior High games, for fans to watch our student athletes compete.
“Information on live streaming games will be sent our prior to the first home games.
“Thank you again for your continued patience and understanding. Changes are coming from the IHSA, IESA, and IDPH rapidly, and we are trying to keep up. The District will continue to update parents and students as changes occur.”
