The weekend of Saturday, September 21-22, 2024, will be exciting in the Morrison, IL, community.  More information is available on the website www.harvesthammer.org.

Events commence at 643 Genesee Avenue, Morrison High School.  Open registration begins at 7:00 a.m.  Starting at 8:15 a.m., three Fun Runs are designed for kids in grades 2-and-Under up-to-8th grade.  Bryce Mead, owner of Mead’s Bike Shop in Sterling, IL, will donate children’s bikes via a drawing.

The 5K walk/run course is an out-and-back course which starts at Morrison High School, with a water stop located at the 1 mile and 2 mile marks.  The first 3/4 of a mile is flat with a small hill right before mile 1.  A medium hill is located right before the turn-around.  The second half of the course is all downhill and fast.  The course begins in front of the high school on Genesee Avenue; makes a right turn onto Prairie Center Road; a left hand turn onto Lister Road; a right turn onto Harvey Road.  The turn-around is on the top of the hill.  A new age category is “80+” for Walkers/Runners.

The bike course is a two-lap course with rolling hills.  The largest hill is located before the first mile and then again at the start of lap two.  The course begins on Genesee Avenue in front of the high school; makes a right turn onto Prairie Center Road; a left turn onto Hillside Road; a left turn onto Bunker Hill Road; a left turn onto Lister Road.  First lap riders will make a left turn back onto Prairie Center and complete a second lap.  After two laps are complete, riders will make a right turn off of Lister Road onto Prairie Center; followed by a left turn onto Genesee Avenue to the finish line in front of the high school.

Adults and youths who enter any Harvest Hammer event, may join a complimentary Color Run, which follows the Harvest Hammer around 11:15 a.m.  Those who enter only the Color Run may register just for that event; the fee is $15.  Child sunglasses are furnished.  Everyone is urged to wear a long-sleeved t-shirt.  Adults should bring their own sunglasses.
