School may be out, but your kids can keep learning! Encourage your child to take time and “Paws to Read” this summer, by signing them up for Odell Public Library’s Summer Reading Club, sponsored by the United Way of Whiteside County. Children preschool-age through 8th grade are invited to bark, roar, cluck, and moo their way through books during this year’s fun-filled, animal-themed programming.
The club will meet at Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL, each Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., June 19 through July 17. Summer Reading Program is free, but pre-registration is required. Children will need a parent/guardian present and a library car to sign up. Registration ends Saturday, June 14, so stop by the library today to sign your child up for five weeks of summer fun.
Club members will be treated to an array of entertainment, from a “Live” Birds of Prey session presented by Northern Illinois Raptor Rehab and Education, to Chris McBrien’s “Wild and Wacky Pet Show.”
Summer Reading Club is also a great opportunity for kids to get to know their local library. We have books, magazines, movies, computers, genealogy materials, and more for patrons of all ages.
Club members are asked to record the number of books read each week of the sessions. They will have the chance to check out new materials at the end of each program.
