“Blast Into Scouting” Cu
b Scout Recruitment will be held in Blackhawk Area Council on Thursday, September 14, 2017, at 7:00 p.m., at every area elementary school. All boys from kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to join Cub Scouts. This includes Northside School, 520 N. Genesee Street, and Southside School, 100 Academic Drive, Morrison, IL.
New Cub Scouts will receive a rocket and can bring it to a Rocket Blast Event, to be held later this fall.
Cub Scouts attend Den Meetings and field trips with other boys in their grade. During den meetings, they will learn many valuable skills and experience new adventures. Enriching local summer day camps are available for all Cub Scouts.
Cub Scout families are encouraged to attend the Pack Meetings, where the Cubs are recognized for their accomplishments. Each Pack offers many family activities and excursions. These events are created by volunteers eager to promote all the benefits of Scouting.
After fifth grade, all boys are welcome to join a Boy Scout Troop. Boy Scouts learn life skills, explore careers, participate in service projects, and experience many outdoor activities. They earn Rank Advancements, where they may aspire to become an Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouting. High Adventure camps are available for Boy Scouts.
Scouts strive to live by the Boy Scout Law: “A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean. and Reverent.”
