Raymond N. Purvis, 81, of Coleta, IL, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at his home.
Raymond was born August 16, 1932, in Argo Fay, IL, the son of Elmer and Virginia (Groh) Purvis. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was employed at Prescott Appliance before his retirement. He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Jordan, Sterling, IL. Raymond married June Stern on September 23, 1956, in Sterling.
Survivors include his wife, June; two daughters, Denise Linton of Sterling and Robyn (David) Bilbrey of Acworth, GA; one sister, Elaine (Charles) Mills of Crump, TN; one brother-in-law, Sharey “Leo” Bonnell; four grandchildren, Benjamin (Kaci) Linton of Morrison, IL, Rachel Linton of Harmon, IL, and Derek Bilbrey and Madelyn Bilbrey, both of Acworth; one great-granddaughter, Elena Linton; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Russell, Robert, and Elmer, Jr. Purvis; two sisters, Marilyn Seeley and Madonna Bonnell.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, may 7, 2014, at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling, IL.
The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2014, at First Lutheran Church of Jordan in Sterling, IL, with the Rev. Jamie Gallagher, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Sterling, IL.
