Rachel J. Groharing, 84, of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Rock River Hospice and Home, in Sterling, IL.
Rachel was born December 3, 1933, in Morrison, to Ren and Cornelia (Tegeler) Ottens. She was a graduate of Morrison High School. Rachel married Richard B. Groharing on August 6, 1954, in Morrison. He died August 26, 2007. Rachel had worked as a bank teller at Smith Trust and Savings Bank in Morrison and was the bookkeeper for Groharing Mason Contractors in Morrison. Rachel was a homemaker. She was a member of Morrison Christian Reformed Church and had been a member of the Ladies Aid Society.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Groharing of Fulton, IL, and Andrew (Lisa) Groharing of Mt. Prospect, IL; six grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, Brenton, Seth, Brittany, and Ethan; two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Bronxtyn; three sisters, Ruth Wilkens of Brookfield, WI, Joyce Kimmel of Palm Harbor, FL, and Judy Steele of Princeton, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; a brother, Willis Ottens; a daughter-in-law, Wendy Groharing.
The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Morrison Christian Reformed Church in Morrison, IL, preceded by a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Rev. Kevin VerHoeven, Pastor of Thrive Ministries, Morrison Campus, will officiate.
The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
