Four Seasons Living Center, within Morrison Community Hospital, 303 N. Jackson Street, Morrison, IL, is abuzz with jigsaw puzzle bidders again, as the final days of this popular silent auction fundraiser draw near. Bids will be taken until noon on Thursday, November 15, 2012. All monies go to the FSLC Activity Fund.
Margaret Ayres has organized the event for two years and “outdid myself” with 51 mounted or framed attractive puzzles for bidding. “About half have bids on them, and the top price [so far] is $50,” she stated Monday, November 12. Even so, Ayers has bids totaling approximately $350. This is more than was earned last year with 30-some puzzles.
Ayres collected about $300 each year to benefit residents. This is her last year of organizing the silent auction. She will continue to build and donate jigsaw puzzles for fundraisers, however.
This 2000-piece, large, framed, Thomas Kinkade puzzle holds the high bid. A charming early 1900’s winter streetscape is aglow–as his works always are–with light and reflections. The glass framing cost $80.
Bob Wiersema will “try to sell puzzles next year,” but “will not do an auction.” He is shown with the seven puzzles he completed for the current auction. The smallest ones are Thomas Kinkade artpieces.
There are puzzles to suit all tastes and interests. How could you use an autumnal puzzle as a Thanksgivinig decoration? Is there something that might brighten your work area? If you see one you would like to bid on, call 815-772-5525. Four puzzles are devoted to the Chicago Cubs and White Sox fans. Wildlife, nature scenes, a motorcycle road trip, and jellybeans can be yours. Make a bid before noon of Thursday, November 15.
