The City of Morrison is accepting applications for Full-Time Laborer in the Public Works Department. Applications can be picked-up at City Hall, 200 W. Main Street, Morrison, IL, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The position requires an energetic and enthusiastic individual, who interacts well with people. The City of Morrison offers competitive wages and benefits. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Duties include, but are not limited to,
- building and/or grounds maintenance
- mowing and edging park grounds
- painting
- picking up litter
- heavy labor working on a 2-3 person repair crew
- performing work in maintenance/installation of water, wastewater, and storm water systems.
The laborer will operate heavy equipment, i.e., backhoe/loader; skid loader; sewer machine; street sweeper; dump trucks; compressor; jack hammers; paint sprayers; sand-blasters; concrete saws; mowers; edgers; blowers.
Requirements of applicants:
- possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- posses and maintain a valid Illinois Driver’s License, including the acquisition of a CDL w/air breaks within six months after hiring.
- pass initial employment physical and drug and alcohol tests. Employees are subject to periodic, random drug and alcohol tests.
- be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds of various materials.>
- be willing to work under extremes of temperature/weather performing manual labor.
- ability to follow written and oral instructions.
