Friday, July 3, will begin with Prophetstown Park District’s Streetscape and their Annual Prophetstown Run Around 5K.
Purchase a street square to paint during the Streetscape event, which runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pick up water, paint supplies, and a goodie bag on Railroad Street next to Eclipse Square. Register to reserve a square for $10.
The Park District One Mile Fun Run for Kids 12 and Underis at 6:30 p.m. The 5K follows at 7:00, for kids and adults through age 60 and over. Both events start and conclude at 410 Riverside Drive, in front of the Park District/ Rec Center/Pool. Pre-register by Wednesday, July 1, to save.
Saturday, July 4, the 51st Annual 4th of July celebration will be held in Prophetstown State Park. Prophetstown Fire Department will have food and refreshments during the day.
Sponsored by Junior Class Post-Prom Parents’ Committee, the 3-on-3 Holiday Tournament will start at 8:00 a.m. Registration–if slots are still open–is at 7:15. The $100 registration deadline is Friday, June 19. Late entries from Monday, June 22, through July 1, are $135. Register here.
Live music adds to the fun from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the park. “Frank F. Sidney’s Western Bandit Volunteers,” a bluegrass band from Galesburg, IL. will perform. At the conclusion, the 50/50 raffle drawing will take place.
Spectacular fireworks begin at dusk on the Rock River. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and insect repellant.
