On Tuesday, August 12, 2014, an attempt at restitution was set into place for two half-brothers who destroyed a significant portion of Main Street, Prophetstown, IL. In the alley behind a string of businesses and retail shops–several with residences atop–they started a dumpster on fire, in the early morning of Monday, July 15, 2013. Within a short time, eight conjoined buildings were destroyed, however, firefighters evicted all residents to safety.
The juvenile boys, now ages 13 and 17, were ordered by Whiteside County Judge William McNeal to begin making monthly payments in October 2014, which will go to propety owners. The amount is $2350. Boy-13 must pay $10 per month; Boy-17 must pay $25 each month.
It will take them more than 5.5 years to complete the restitution.
Their term of parole is five years and includes community service.
