50th Prophetstown 4th of July and Fireworks

Pack the car for a patriotic day in Prophetstown State Park, along the Rock River in Prophetstown, IL, on Friday, July 4, 2014.  Celebrate the 50th annual 4th of July observance with activities throughout the day.  Glorious fireworks conclude the celebration at dusk.  Bring insect repellant and a lawn chair or blanket for comfortable viewing.

Co-sponsors are the Men’s Club and Prophetstown Fire Protection District.  Donations will be solicited by these organizations during the event. 

 The day offers lots of fun before dark.  There will be live music and food booths in the park. 

  • 8:00 a.m. 3-on-3 basketball tournament (Registrations are filled; come watch the games.)
  • 10:00 a.m. horseshoe tournament
  • 2:00 p.m. kids’ races
  • 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. musical entertainment
  • 9:00 p.m. 50/50 drawing.

The celebration continues on Saturday, July 5, with two free concerts in Eclipse Square, at the corner of IL Route 78 (Washington Street) and Railroad Street, sponsored by Prophetstown Main Street.

Prophetstown’s own “Reflex Blues” will play from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.   Band mates include Amanda Burger, Randy Jacobs, Kyle Prenevost, Mike Rippy, and Angie Stegmiller.

Rock and roll band “Coupe DeVille” takes center stage from 7:30 to 10:00.
