Barns have an allure for City folks. Whiteside County, Illinois, Farm Bureau hosted two-day, self-driving Barn Tours, which drew hundreds, sometimes thousands, of visitors. Morrison Historical Society will host an informative PowerPoint program, contrasting European and Midwestern barns. The free event is Sunday, October 29, 2023, inside Morrison’s Heritage Museum, 202 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL. Doors open at 1:00 p.m.; the program starts promptly at 1:30.
Wolfgang Koch of Sterling, IL, will display farmstead and barn construction in various parts of Germany. Visuals concentrate on Hausbarns found in northern Germany and Denmark–the Hallenhaus and Haubarg farmsteads. He will compare them to those built later in the Midwest.
