Presbyterian Church Looks for Volunteer Groups

First Presbyterian Church continues to offer Free Community Meals at 100 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL. The remaining 2014 dates are from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays on

  • October 9 and 30
  • November 13
  • December 11
  • and Sunday, November 23, at 11:15 a.m. for the Thanksgiving meal.

In 2015, First Presbyterian is hoping to extend the opportunity to host meals to other churches, organizations, and businesses. If you have a group who would like to prepare, serve, and clean up a meal for 60-90 people, Pastor Mike Selburg would love to teach you how. It’s extremely easy and very rewarding.

Mike and Katie Selburg, as well as other church volunteers, will help you learn the ropes, until your group feels confident to run an entire meal on their own. The vision is for this to not only become a meal for the community, but also a meal prepared by the community. You can contact Mike at 309-361-1975.

Meals are typically the second and last Thursday of the month (with only one in June through August and December,) from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Meals are prepared at the church in a Certified Kitchen.  They can be prepared and stored in the refrigerator the night before.

You can begin signing up for hosting a 2015 meal today!  It would be so gratifying if a dozen organizations each took responsibility for onoe month.
