Post 328 Hosts High Level American Legion Visitors

Posted by

NatViceCommandHeigertDepartment of Illinois American Legion officials annually visit Divisions, Districts, and Posts to collect membership renewal cards and meet with veterans.

On Friday, January 17, 2020, a caravan of National staff and Department Legion hierarchy from Headquarters in Bloomington, IL, stopped at three Posts in the 13th District.  This District is comprised of six Counties.

Their goal was to encourage veterans to renew their 2020 membership and praise Posts that had met their 100% renewal goal.  The majority of Posts have met this goal.  Rock Falls Sons of the Legion reached 100% membership renewal.

Morrison Post 328, 306 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL, was selected for a presentation and dinner stop.

At 5:00 p.m., representatives from the Department of Illinois–which comprises all of Illinois–spoke about American Legion events and legislative affairs.  National National Vice Commander Richard A Heigert, above, addresses attendees.  Below, left-to-right in Jerry Brearton’s photo, are Department of Illinois Commander Roy Weber, Member of Post 924 in Teutopolis, IL; National Vice Commander Heigert, Member of Post 283 in Imperial, MO; National Executive Committeeman Tom Marciciak, Member of Post 964 in Lake Zurich, IL; Department of Illinois Senior Vice Commander Wayne Fischer, Member of Post 43 in Naperville, IL.

Twenty-nine persons attended, including 11 area Post members from Morrison, Prophetstown, Rock Falls, and Rockton, IL.  Eighteen caravan members braved the cold.  They had requested a simple meal.  Fortunately, Jerry Brearton had won a whole hog at the Shannon, IL, American Legion Post’s Motorcycle Ride!  He provided plenty of pulled pork to compliment coleslaw, chips, relishes, vegetable platter, brownies, cookies, and, lemon bars.
