Possible Abduction of VanOosten Couple

Editor’s note:  At 10:15 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2017, Sergeant Kris Schmidt submitted the following “immediate release” for publication.  At 1:25 p.m., on Thursday, February 9, Lieutenant John Booker submitted notice that a suspect had been apprehended.

The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation of a possible abduction of two individuals, identified as Constance P. VanOosten and her husband, Larry D. VanOosten, from a rural Erie, IL, residence.  The Sheriff’s Office received a report from the 1st Trust and Savings Bank in Albany, IL, regarding a withdrawal of U. S. currency from the victim’s account [on Wednesday, February 8, 2017].

The possible suspect vehicle appears to be a two-tone, silver, 90’s Chevrolet Caprice.

Details surrounding the investigation are still being investigated, and specifics cannot be released at this time.  The Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance with any information, to identify the possible suspects and locate the victims.
