Police Protection Levy for Morrison is Defeated

CopPatchMorrison Police Chief Brian Melton commented on voter results of the Morrison Police Protection Levy, from the Whiteside County Consolidated General Election.

“I’m certainly disappointed in the results of the referendum, but I am extremely grateful to those that continue to support local Law Enforcement.  MPD will continue to best utilize its available resources, while we remain committed to serving our community.”

On Tuesday, April 2, 2019, 494 votes were cast.  The Morrison Police Protection Levy increase was defeated:

  • 273 (55.26%) citizens voted NO, to the Levy increase.
  • 221 (44.74%) citizens voted YES, to raise the Levy.

Five months earlier, on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, 1589 votes were cast.  The Morrison Police Protection Levy increase was defeated:

  • 855 (53.81%) citizens voted NO, to the Levy increase.
  • 734 (46.19%) citizens voted YES, to raise the Levy.
