Police Department Begins Helmet Incentive Program

Posted by

Morrison Police Chief Brian Melton is proud to announce the Helmet Incentive Program again this year.  This program promotes bicycle safety among our youth and is only possible through the continued partnership and support of DQ Grill & Chill owners, Ellen and Bart Smith.

The Morrison Police Department’s Helmet Incentive Program offers an incentive to those children, ages three through16, who wear their helmet when bicycling.  Chief Melton explained, “Starting Thursday, May 28, 2015, and through the summer months, anytime a Morrison Police Officer observes a child between the ages of three and 16 riding their bicycle with a helmet on, the Officer will reward that child with a coupon for ice cream at DQ Grill & Chill[, 200 N. Sawyer Road,] in Morrison[, IL].”  Melton continued, “We hope this program encourages our youth to wear their helmets and practice bicycle safety when riding.”

Melton closed with, “We are very grateful to DQ Grill & Chill, Ellen and Bart Smith, and their staff for their continued support.  Most importantly, we are excited about having the opportunity again this year for the program!  We hope to reward even more children this year…so wear your helmets, and encourage others to do so as well!”
