“We are in desperate need of new uniforms for all [16] of the girls,” lamented Coach Katelyn Sedig. “I believe they were purchased three years ago. They have been altered so many times, they are falling apart!”
A basic uniform consists of a skirt and sleeveless, shell top. “They run $80 to $130 each and could go higher,” stated Sedig. This does not take into consideration other, necessary uniform parts: long sleeve shirt and warm up pants and jacket. Cheerleaders purchase their own shoes and hair bows to complete the uniform.

A pair of team fundraisers are in place. Paula Rodriguez is making enchiladas for the girls to sell to family members in early July. A public sale will take place in the future.
The second is an ongoing fundraising campaign. Members of the cheerleading squad are available for children’s play dates or as birthday party entertainment. “The girls do this on weekends throughout the year. Parents set up the place in a yard, park, church, or their home. [These events] show them what leadership looks like,” Sedig noted.
The teens can lead games for two hours, or they can teach cheers, basic dance routines, jumping, and make up techniques.
“Reserve two or three cheerleaders, at $12 each, and allow a couple weeks’ notice, please,” stated the Coach. Email katie.sedig@morrisonschools.org or call 815-499-9806.
