Today, Monday, January 25, 2021, includes an early school dismissal for in-person learners. It was issued in advance of freezing rain and heavy snowfall, of six-to-ten inches, and winds gusting as high as 35 mph. The storm will continue into Tuesday. However much snow falls, it will pile atop ground that is still covered by snow from three weeks earlier.
The New Year has begun with fine winter opportunities for Morrison, IL, photographers. Remember the ermine blanket that covered the ground on Monday, January 4? The next day created a canvas for tracking busy animals who frequent my yard: deer, feral cats, rabbits, raccoons, and squirrels.
Assistant Editor Jerry Lindsey spotted two Bald Eagles on Ash Avenue on Thursday, January 7. The second one is about two feet below the top sentinel.
Outside of town, the scene continued with thick, frozen-fog, gloves, surrounding bare finger branches. Across the landscape, trees took on a cotton candy coating. These scenes of Norrish Road, west of Bishop Road, were frozen in time.
