Philip Edwin Bruketta, 75, died at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.
Philip was born July 15, 1946. in Canton, IL, the son of George and Charlotte Irene (Wilcoxen) Bruketta. He married Barbara Murphy on April 17, 1971, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling, IL. Philip is a retired Plumber of many years. Philip was a member of St. Andrew Church and Rock Falls American Legion Post 902 and a longtime member of their Honor Guard. He was a proud U. S. Army Vietnam veteran. Philip was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
Survivors include, his wife, Barbara of Rock Falls, IL; sons, Andy Bruketta of Palmer, AK, Jim Bruketta of Sterling, and Tim (Brooke Dugger) Bruketta of Rock Falls; four grandchildren, Drew, Kylor, Kinzie, and Hunter Bruketta; sister, Janet (Bill) O’Neil of Jackson Hole, WY; brothers, George (Dixie) Bruketta of Norris, IL, David (Phyllis) Bruketta of Canton, and Danny (Becky) Bruketta of Norris; sisters-in-law, Ann (Dean) Ufkin of Morrison, IL, and Jean (Mark) Thomaschefsky of Sterling; brother-in-law, Frank (Linda) Murphy of Sterling; many special nieces and nephews.
Philip is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Bruketta; mother- and father-in-law, Betty and John Murphy; special cousin, Robert Delost; nieces Jennifer Thomaschefsky and Karin Murphy.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 9, 2021, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls, IL.
Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Richard M. Russo and the Reverend Richard R. Kramer officiating.
Burial with military honors will conclude at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Sterling, IL.
