Peggy J. “Jeanne” Weaver, 85, of Morrison, IL, died Thursday, September 7, 2017 at her home.
Jeanne was born on January 25, 1932, in Morrison, to George and Edythe (Getty) Weaver. She attended the Morrison grade schools and graduated from Morrison High School in 1949. She attended Coe College, University of Northern IL, and the University of Illinois, where she earned her Master’s Degree. Post graduate work was also done with Western IL University and Augustana College. She had taught at West Aurora, IL, and Morrison High Schools in the P.E. Department. In 1969 she joined with Bi-County Special Education, serving as a Speech Pathologist in the Whiteside County schools. Other positions included assistant Dorm Director for Adams Hall at N.I.U; Evans Hall at U. of IL; YWCA Camp in Oswego, IL, and I .R. Camp, north of Geneva, Switzerland. In 1961 Jeanne joined with her father in the standard bred race horse business. She owned and operated Dixiedell Acres at Round Grove, IL. In the 90’s, while a member of the WHOA board, she wrote “Horsing Around” and “Track Shadows,” about trainers in the 20th century at the Whiteside County Fairgrounds. She was a life-long member of Morrison United Methodist Church and had served on many committees, including the Advisory Board and as a representative for the Resthave Nursing Home board. She also taught Sunday School and sang in the church’s choir. For a number of years Jeanne served on the 708 Mental Health Board for Whiteside County.
Survivors include a niece; a grand-nephew and grand-niece; four cousins.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
At Jeanne’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
