Paul M. Brondyke, 84, of Countryside Meadows, Avon, IN, formerly of Morrison, IL, died Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Countryside Meadows.
Paul was born November 11, 1928, in Morrison, to John and Nellie (Klimstra) Brondyke. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County Grade Schools. He attended Fulton High School and was a graduate of Morrison High School in Morrison. Paul was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean War. He married Maxine M. Tichler on July 25, 1951, in Morrison. She died January 15, 2005. Paul first engaged in farming in rural Morrison and later worked for Al’s Electric Service in Morrison. He then purchased the business from Al and operated Brondyke Electric for over 30 years. Paul was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, where he served as elder and deacon and was a choir member. He was member and Past President of the Morrison Lions Club and served as member and Past President of Union Grove School Board. Paul was a longtime member of the Rock River Valley Barbershop Chorus. He enjoyed golfing and watching girls high school softball and boys baseball games.
Survivors include two sons, Jon (Sheri) Brondyke of Rockford, IL, and Ed (Melinda) Brondyke of Brownsburg, IN; four grandchildren, Thomas, Sara, Kathryn, and Mary Brondyke; one brother, Jay (Alberta) Brondyke of Fulton, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maxine; one sister, Wilma Rick; two brothers, Albert and Rensie Brondyke.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2013, at the Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL
OFFICIATING: Rev. Gerald H. Norman, Pastor, Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL
VISITATION: 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2013, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
INTERMENT: Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
