Patricia A. “Pat” Folkers, 68, of rural Lyndon, IL, died Sunday, May 4, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Pat was born February 8, 1946, in Morrison, IL, the daughter of Paul and Evelyn (Whitmore) Daniels. She married Gary Folkers on December 10, 1966, in rural Sterling, IL. Pat worked as a bookkeeper at Morrison Telephone Co. and Mills Motor Ford dealership in Morrison. She and Gary opened Five Star Enterprises in Morrison in 1981, where she not only kept the books, but worked side by side with her husband operating the business. Pat enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, baking, and submitting items in local craft shows. She loved helping others and had a special love for animals.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Folkers of rural Lyndon; one daughter, Sherri (Daryl Fee) Dirks of Clinton, IA; two sons, Jeff (Barb) Folkers and Scott (Andrea) Folkers, both of Morrison; one brother, Merle Daniels of rural Morrison; five grandchildren, Dustin, Ashlee, Travis, Marissa, and Megan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Shirley.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 8, 2014, at McDonald Funeral Home, 1601 16th Avenue, Fulton, IL.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Private inurnment will be at a later date at Cottonwood Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Hospice of the Rock River Valley and the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.
