Owen R. Oetting, 15 of Morrison, IL, and formerly of Sterling, IL, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at Morrison Community Hospital, Morrison.
Owen was born on September 2, 2001, in Sterling, the son of Ryan and Jennifer (Grennan) Oetting. He was a freshman at Morrison High School and loved playing sports, including, football, wrestling, and baseball. Owen was an active member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Morrison and previously at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling, where he served as an alter server. He loved music and could play guitar by ear. Owen enjoyed spending time on the family farm and helping any way he could. Owen was very personable and had many friends from all over, but most especially he loved his brother and sisters.
Survivors include his parents, Ryan and Jennifer of Morrison; his three siblings, Bailey, Rhet,t and Lucy; maternal grandparents, Eugene and Peggy Grennan of Rock Falls, IL; paternal grandparents, Arlyn and Betty Oetting of Sterling; aunts and uncles, Shawn and Ann Grennan, Carla and Steve Hilbert, Michael and Gina Grennan, Judy Grennan, Amy Norton, Thomas and Heather Grennan, Sarah and Jason Kamens, Meg and Scott Schultz, LeAnne Kiel and Lance (Lori) Oetting; many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Daryl Grennan, and cousin, Brendon Grennan.
Visitation will he held on Friday, September 30, 2016, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue, Rock Falls, IL.
Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., in St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling, IL.
Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Harmon, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling or Morrison and the Alzheimer’s Association.
