Long before her 8:00 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2016, misty photograph was taken, Beckwith Commercial Roofing, Inc. employees were well into the day’s task, atop the Morrison Fire Station at 206 W. Main Street, Morrison, IL.   In preparation for laying a new flat roof, pyramids of drainage piping lay stacked at the west and east ends of the building.  Wrapped insulation panels were being hoisted to the roof.

“This is ‘materials day.’  They will start the installation on Monday[, September 12],” reported First Assistant Chief Joe Bielema.  It will take a week [to complete].  It’s quite a process,” he said.

“It has been 20 or 25 years since” the roof was replaced.  Leaks are “what we have now, so it’s time,” Bielema commented.

“We had to go out of town for a contractor.”  Beckwith Commercial Roofing specializes in flat roof installation.
