If you never hiss and boo a villain, cheer for the manly hero, or sigh for the beautiful heroine, here is your chance. The Morrison Musical Theatre Association (MMTA) is putting on an old fashioned melodrama this summer, in both Prophetstown, and Morrison, IL.
These light-hearted comedies became popular in the 1890’s, at a time when good deeds and virtue were rewarded, and evil deeds were punished. In “He Ain’t Done Right By Nell,” this theme is followed with a bit of a twist thrown in for good measure. Cast members come from Prophetstown, Morrison, Fulton, and Sterling, IL.
Prophetstown performances are on Friday, July 1, and Saturday, July 2, at 7:00 p.m., at First Congregational Church, 218 E. 3rd Street. Before each performance, enjoy an ice cream social at 6:00 for an additional fee.
Morrison performances will be Friday, July 8, and Saturday, July 9, at 7:00 p.m., at Morrison Institute of Technology, 701 Portland Avenue.
The melodrama is not the only entertainment going on these evenings. “Olios” are songs, skits, jokes, pantomimes, and sing-a-longs that happen at different times during the evening.
Limited seating is available. Tickets are $8 each. Purchase tickets at Niccoli’s, 44 Grove Street, Prophetstown, or at Fitzgerald Pharmacy, 124 E. Main Street, Morrison. Tickets will also be available at the door.
Ice cream social tickets may be purchased at Niccoli’s.
Join us for an evening of good old fashioned fun!
