Officer-Involved-Shooting Investigation Goes to State’s Attorney

The Illinois State Police investigation in reference to the January 26, 2018, officer-involved-shooting in Rock Falls, IL, has been presented to the Whiteside County State’s Attorney.  The report contains dash cam video, from two squad cars on scene and another that arrived moments after the shooting.  Numerous witness statements were collected from the neighborhood as well as voluntary statements from the Officer involved and four witness Officers.

The report also includes the autopsy report, toxicology, and laboratory analysis of the service weapon and fired evidence.  

The Illinois State Police will not release additional information, until the State’s Attorney has completed his review and findings.

On behalf of the investigative team, we greatly appreciate the cooperation we received from the public, the patience and understanding from the Edwards family, and the outstanding assistance we received from the Sterling Police Department and the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office.
