The Odell Public Library Friends will again host the Annual Book, Bake, and Art Sale on Saturday, November 7, 2015, from 9:00 to 2:00 p.m. The doors to the Community Room at 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL, will open to an exciting scene. Not only will there be a huge variety of books and baked goods, there also will be 50 pieces of art, created by our community artists!
Proceeds will help fill the shelves with best sellers for both children and adults and provide up-to-date technology.
Bakers, Odell would greatly appreciate donations from your ovens. Please bring them to the library Saturday, November 7, at 8:30 a.m.
There promises to be a vast number of books displayed throughout the room. Whatever fits your reading pleasure can be found–from romance, to western, to science fiction, to biography, history, travel, cooking, gardening, and crafts.
Children are also accommodated with picture books through junior high selections. And, the price is right: 50¢ for a hardback, and 25¢ for a paperback.
Before entering the Community Room, there will be a tantalizing array of baked goods: pies, cakes, breads, muffins, cookies, and more. Priced nominally and baked by readers from Odell Public Library, these goodies will satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth. Save some culinary delights and put in the freezer for the holidays.
A new item added this year is the art sale. Forty community artists were asked to create, using a 6-inch by 6-inch canvas. Piece by piece the canvasses have been collected andwill be hung as a colorful mosaic.
Canvases are priced at $25 and will be sold as a “blind buy.” Each canvas will be randomly numbered. All a buyer needs to do is sign his/her name with phone number and address with a number and pay the $25. On Tuesday, December 1, names and numbered canvases will be matched. Buyers will be notified of their original piece of art. Part of the fun is discovering which canvas will be yours!
Christmas shopping can be done early at the Odell Public Library Friends’ Book, Bake, and Art Sale. There will be something for everyone’s taste, sight, and pleasure. Mark your calendars. Do not miss this wonderful event that raises money for your local library.
