Summer Reading Club registration is in full swing at Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL, for this year’s “Reading Takes You Everywhere” programming. Summer Reading offers five weeks of hands-on activities and entertainment opportunities, for children pre-school age through 8th grade. The goal is keeping kids’ reading and literacy skills sharp over the summer months. Programming runs from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., each Thursday morning from May 31 through June 28, 2018.
Generously funded by the United Way of Whiteside County, all programming is offered free-of-charge. Participants are required to register by Thursday, May 24. New this year, participants may register online or complete paper forms available at Odell. Registration information is also available through the Morrison Schools “Virtual Backpack.”
This summer, Odell will guide readers to five different destinations, featured in Mary Pope Osborne’s immensely popular “Magic Tree House” series. From outer space to the high seas, there’s something for every child to learn about and explore!
Aside from weekly programming, each participant is asked to track the number of minutes they read each day as well as the number of books . Readers are then rewarded with small prizes and books over the summer.
