President of Friends of Odell Library Anne Frame submitted this press release.
An appealing and noteworthy “Aprons on Display” presentation will be given by Connie Barr, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., in the Odell Public Library Program Room. The address is 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL.
Frame stated, “Barr became a collector of aprons because of her interest in fabrics. Some of you may remember her Quilt Shop on W. Lincoln Highway in the old schoolhouse in Unionville. Her shop was open not only for [selling fabric and various sewing items], but also giving lessons, and quilting parties.
“Although she told me she has been sewing since she was seven years old, she really had no interest in apron collecting until a collection was given to her. Of course, it was the fabrics that drew her eye! However, she realized that some of the aprons were from the 1920s and 1930s. This was a turning point for Connie. She became an Apron Collector!”
Mark your calendars to hear more and see these colorful, fascinating aprons, during a fun evening on April 23, at Odell Public Library. Do you have a favorite or cherished apron? WEAR IT TO THE PROGRAM.
