This arrest is merely a charge, and he/she is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
On 10/28/18 at about 12:30 a.m., the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single-vehicle rollover traffic crash, on Meredosia Road about ½ mile north of Stropes Road. Jayden A. Huizenga, 19, of Erie, IL, was driving northbound on Meredosia Road when his pickup crossed the center line, continuing towards the west ditch, and then rolled approximately two times before coming to rest on its roof. Austin T. Meier, 23, of Erie, was ejected from the front passenger seat during the rollover. Bree A. Snyder, 19, of Port Byron, IL, was also a passenger of the vehicle. Meier was transported by Albany, IL, EMS to Illini Hospital in Silvis, IL, and later air lifted to Iowa City, IA, for his injuries, which are non-life threatening. Huizenga and Snyder were treated and released on scene. Huizenga was arrested for DUI, DUI Over the Legal Limit, and Driving Too Fast for Conditions. He was processed and released with a Notice to Appear. Deputies were assisted on scene by Albany Fire, Albany EMS, and Cordova Fire.
