Charges listed below are accusations, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
On 10-10-17 at 2:00 p.m., Whiteside County Deputies responded to the area of Prophet Road and Riverdale Road, Rock Falls, IL, for a single-vehicle traffic crash. Investigation revealed that an eastbound International Semi truck driven by Michael A. Kness, 61, of New Windsor, IL, had driven off the roadway and collided with utility pole. The truck continued several hundred feet before coming to a rest in a cornfield. Kness was transported by CGH EMS to CGH Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Rock Falls Police Department, Sterling and Rock Falls Fire Departments, CGH EMS, and the City of Rock Falls Electrical Department.
