November 16 Sheriff’s Office Investigates Deaths

Whiteside County Sheriff John Booker reported, on Saturday November 16, 2019, at 1:35 p.m., Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center received a call to conduct a welfare check, at a residence in the 100 block of E. Commercial Street, Lyndon IL.  Deputies arrived on scene, checked the residence, and made sure the residence was secure.   From outside, Deputies were able to look through a bedroom window and observed a male subject on the bed.  Deputies, with assistance from Prophetstown Police Department, gained entry into the residence.

Once inside Deputies discovered 78-year-old Thomas E. Whitney was deceased in the bedroom.  They discovered his wife, 53-year-old Dawn R. Whitney, was deceased in the bathroom.

At this time the cause of death for both is unknown.  The death investigation is ongoing with the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office and Whiteside County Coroner’s Office.  Autopsies will be conducted in the next couple of days.
