New 4-Way Stop in Morrison

Posted by

On Friday, November 13, 2020, a temporary, four-way, stop sign was installed at a busy, Morrison, IL, intersection with dual blind spots:  N. Madison and E. Knox Streets.  This is the northwest corner of Sullivan’s Foods’ parking lot; the northeast corner of Brethren in Christ Church; the southeast corner of the Whiteside County Courthouse.

Some time ago, Chief of Police Brian Melton expressed to the City Council his concern about this corner.  One danger spot is when drivers are proceeding west on Knox Street,  as others are driving south on Madison Street. A second impairment to vision is when drivers are proceeding east on Knox Street, when drivers are proceeding south on Madison Street.  Cars that park on these streets near the intersection contribute to the blind spots.  Melton indicated some parking spaces maybe reduced near the corner.

He urges motorists to “Please stop, and carefully proceed through this intersection, as we continue to improve this intersection.”
