Nelda Kay Ard, 68, of Albany, IL, died Monday, March 6, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA.
Nelda was born September 30, 1948, in Clinton, IA, to Charles H. and Lucyle H. (Armstrong) Beeken. She was educated in the Albany Grade Schools and was a 1966 graduate of Fulton High School in Fulton, IL. Nelda married James D. Ard on February 14, 1969, in Clinton. She was employed by Fidelity Life Insurance in Fulton and then by Promotion Fulfillment Corporation in Camanche, IA. She also was employed by Office Max in Clinton and most recently by Dollar General in Fulton. Nelda was a member of Albany United Methodist Church and a member of the Albany American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She also coached softball in Albany. Nelda enjoyed riding her bike and fishing.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; one daughter, Tammela K. (Darren) May of Clinton; one granddaughter, Lilly May; one sister, Mrs. Carole Pearson of DeBary, FL; one niece, LuEllen (Matt) Lee of Morrison, IL; one sister-in-law, Judy (Ben) Kidwell of Camdenton, MO; one brother-in-law, Howard Letcher of Albany, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Janet Letcher; one nephew, Jeffry Johnson.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2017, at Albany United Methodist Church, Albany, IL
OFFICIATING: Pastor Toni Lucas, Pastor of Albany United Methodist Church, Albany, IL
Cremation rites have been accorded.
The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to Albany United Methodist Church.
