Need for Paint the Town Volunteers

Editor’s note:  This quintessential event photo is by Marta Bender.

Paint the Town is a premier community endeavor, with 6000+ attendees.  It has been a tradition for families and artists of all ages for more than two decades.  Each year, citizens enjoy an al fresco morning-after pancake-breakfast (Sunday, September 16, 2018,) served by the Morrison High School Wrestling Team, and an appreciative stroll along Morrison, IL, downtown streets.  It is pleasing to admire a child’s or grandchild’s artistry or to find amusing, beautiful, and creative designs represented.

Such an efficient, ongoing organization, of necessity, has been supported by countless, dedicated volunteers.  These people deliver successful PTT experiences, from start to finish.

For this to continue in 2018, there is a need for advocates of Paint the Town to become new volunteers.  Some tasks take only two hours, so anyone can choose a time slot to fill.  Such tasks include

  • greeting the public
  • registration
  • passing out paint materials
  • selling previous PTT t-shirts
  • walking the street to make sure vendors do not have problems.

Visit the Paint the Town website, http://paintthetownmorrison.com/.  Choose “Volunteer” on top of the Home Page to complete a brief information form.  Sign up for at least two hours to receive a free event t-shirt.  A current PTT volunteer will call you, to discuss how to apply your skills.

Become part of the community endeavor.  Help ensure this first class, art experience continues.
