Inspired by the late columnist Ann Landers, one week in February has become a time to send letters of appreciation or Valentine cards to veterans in VA medical centers. If you are close enough to a facility, visits to–and volunteer activities at–these hospitals also is encouaged during Sunday, February 10, through Saturday, February 16, 2013.
The justification is apparent, and the effect is uplifting.
Make this an outreach event for your family, classroom, youth group, or adult service organization.
Perhaps include a thank you message to the dedicated caregivers who serve our veterans.
Mail or deliver your valentines and letters to any of the four Illinois or 15 Iowa hospitals and clinics. Find the nearest VA facility by searching the regional directory.
