Morrison, IL, American Legion and the City of Morrison partner to add names to the Morrison Veteran’s Park and Memorial and recently finished engraving names on the memorial tablets, for area veterans who died in 2017 and 2018.
Darren Haan of Moore Monument Co. stated. “Approximately 30 new names were added” by him, from Tuesday, June 18, to Thursday, June 20.
Here is the eligibility criteria to have a name added. “Name placement on the Morrison Veteran’s Park and Memorial is extended to those persons who, now deceased, were, at some point during their lifetime, domiciled in what is now the area encompassed by the 61270 postal zip code, and who honorably served in one or more of the five branches of the United States military, including the recognized components thereof.”
The Morrison American Legion dutifully maintains the detailed master list of names, and signs off on the eligibility of new names to be engraved.
The Morrison Veteran’s Park and Memorial is an impressive, peaceful, and respectful monument to area Veterans. Residents are encouraged to visit the Memorial. Spend time reviewing the names of the men and women from our area who honorably served our Country. Help youngsters locate names of their patriotic ancestors.
