The 2022 Erie Warkins Memorial Tournament opened on Tuesday, December 27, with pool play of four sections of three teams each. The Morrison Mustangs opened play with a dominating win over the Stockton Blackhawks 56-36. Leading by only three points at halftime, the Mustangs used the inside game of Juniors Brenden Martin, Carson Strating, and Chase Newman to ease to the first round win.

The second game of the day for the Morrison Mustangs in the Erie Warkins Tournament featured the Golden Eagles from Mercer County. A 16-point, first-half effort by Brenden Martin aided the Mustangs’ effort in building a ten-point halftime advantage. The Golden Eagles chipped away at the lead in the second half. The Mustangs stayed strong and collected a 61-57 win, to advance into the Thursday night action against the leader of the Pool Four competition.
