Morrison Mustangs Varsity and Sterling baseball teams traded the lead five times on Saturday, March 21, 2015. Morrison ended up on top, with a 6-3 win in eight innings. Click here for the scoreboard.
In the bottom of the first, Sterling grabbed the early lead, 1-0.
The Mustangs took the lead in the eighth inning and held on for the victory. They went up for good on a two-run double by Justin Jensen off Escalante, bringing home Ryan VanZuiden and Ben Tegeler.
Justin Jensen had a busy day at the plate, collecting three extra-base hits.
VanZuiden looked sharp on the bump. Sterling managed just one hit off of VanZuiden, who allowed no earned runs, walked none, and struck out six during his five innings of work.
Brock Smith got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over three innings. Smith struck out none, walked one, and gave up four hits.
Escalante was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
