Mustangs Stumble Late

The Morrison Mustangs were in control of the Kewanee Boilermakers behind the ten strikeouts in five innings pitching by Joey Brackemyer when the wheels fell in the seventh innings.

The brisk wind was blowing from right field to left and any balls hit in the air became an adventure and the Boilermakers took a first inning lead with the aid of the wind, but the Mustangs fought back and took the lead with three runs in the fourth. After adding another three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth, they entered the top of the seventh with an 8-4 lead.
The Mustang defense had opportunities to close out the game, but failures to make key plays gave the Boilermakers extra outs and they finally connected to push across six runs and take the heart out of the Mustangs and gain a 10-8 conference win.

Kewanee. 1-2-0-0-0-1-6 = 10/16/1
